Sunshine Coast Sustainability Program

Three biospheres. One destination, restored by all of us, one tree at a time.

Here on the Sunshine Coast, we are nestled in nature and green at heart. In fact, we're the only destination in Australia where three UNESCO Biosphere Reserves sit side by side. What does that mean exactly? In simple terms, we're passionate about contributing towards a more sustainable future for our destination.

That's why we've partnered with Reforest to bring real, measurable restoration to our blue and green backyard. Every program business contributes through your booking. You can add your own contribution. And every tree planted shows up in our live dashboard, in real time.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Restoration, built into your visit.

Our industry leads

Local businesses in the program contribute restoration through every booking, stay, tour, event and experience.

Visitors can add to it

You can buy a tree or restore a patch of forest directly, on top of what your booking already does.

Our ecosystems recover

Every contribution funds real restoration projects across the Coast's natural landscapes, with progress tracked openly.

WHAT THESE BUSINESSES CONTRIBUTE

Every program business has restoration built in.

Wherever you stay, eat, or explore on the Sunshine Coast, choosing a program business means your booking already contributes. Some plant a tree for every night you stay. Some remove carbon emissions for every tour ticket. Some restore a square metre of habitat for every experience purchased. You can see who's offering what, and how to book them, in the dashboard above.

ADD YOUR OWN CONTRIBUTION

Want to do more? Plant a tree or restore a patch of forest.

Every tree is planted in the Cooroy Mountain Wildlife Corridor, with local restoration partners on the ground. You'll receive a record of exactly where your contribution lands.

Plant a tree

One native tree, planted in the Cooroy Mountain Wildlife Corridor. Your contribution funds the seedling, the planting, and the maintenance through to maturity.

Restore a patch of forest

A larger contribution that funds several square metres of habitat restoration. You'll receive a record of your patch and updates on its progress.

WHERE THE RESTORATION HAPPENS

Real places. Local partners. Lasting restoration.

WHY WE BUILT THIS PROGRAM

[Illustrative example; not an actual quote]

"Three biospheres on our doorstep is something no other destination in Australia can say. This program is how we make sure our visitors and our industry are caring for the natural landscapes that make this place what it is. Real trees. Real businesses. Real numbers. That's the standard we want to set."

Our blue and green backyard, looked after by all of us.
